Two norms in the Faroes Open

The Faroes Open chess tournament ended on Wednesday with 23 year old Indian IM Srinath Narayanan (2505) winning the tournament in front of GM Julio Ernesto Granda Zuniga (2656) from Peru and GM Helgi Dam Ziska (2544) from the Faroe Islands.

 

During the tournament two players managed to win norms. Winner IM Srinath Narayanan (2505) received a GM norm for his results in the tournament, where he finished with 7,5 points out of the 9 possible points. This is his seventh GM norm.

The second one winning a norm was Faroese FM Høgni Egilstoft Nielsen (2323). He received an IM norm, which is his second one. FM Høgni Egilstoft Nielsen (2323), who ended the tournament in sixth place, also won the rating prize for players between 2201 and 2400.
