Second round: Five players in the lead

The first of two rounds today in the Faroes Open were played this morning at 10 a.m. There were no major surprises in this morning’s games, and after the second round there are five players in the lead.
FM Hans Kristian Simonsen (2180) is the only Faroese player among the leaders after the first two rounds.
Favorite GM Julie Ernesto Granda Zuniga (2656) is still among the leaders in the tournament. This morning he beat IM Martin Haubro (2365) with black. Together with him in the lead are GM Allan Stig Rasmussen (2540), GM Miguel Muñoz (2495), GM Normunds Miezis (2447) and FM Hans Kristian Simonsen (2180).
For the Faroese viewers there was big focus on the game between GM Helgi Dam Ziska (2544) and FM Rógvi Egilstoft Nielsen (2353). This game ended with a draw, when FM Rógvi Egilstoft Nielsen (2353) got perpetual check. FM Høgni Egilstoft Nielsen (2323) also got a good draw with black against IM Srinath Narayanan (2505). However FM Høgni Egilstoft Nielsen (2323) had a small advantage, when they drew, but he didn’t have much time left.
The next round will be played later today at 5 p.m.
