Gawain Jones is an English chess grandmaster. He made a name for himself early in the chess world when he became the youngest ever player to beat an International Master in tournament game. Gawain achieved his IM title in 2004 and then became a GM in 2007.

Gawain has represented England on several occasions, at the World Junior and World Youth Championships, as well as representing England at five Chess Olympiads from 2008 and onwards.

Among the notable tournament victories for Gawain are:  London Chess Classic Open 2010, Commonwealth Chess Champion 2011, 4NCL Champion with Pride and Prejudice scoring 8/9, Dubai Open 2016 and winning the British Chess Championship in 2012 and 2017.

Gawain Jones participated in the Tata Steel Masters in 2018 after winning the Tata Steel Challengers in 2017.
