The Faroes Open, a tournament with a mix of chess Grandmasters, International masters, and the strongest local players and young upcoming names in Faroese chess. Serving as a great platform for players to challenge themselves and improve their game.
In the 2017 edition of Faroes Open, two players managed to win norms. Tournament winner IM Srinath Narayanan (2505) received a GM norm for his results in the tournament, where he finished with 7,5 points out of the 9 possible points. This is his seventh GM norm.
One of the brightest young stars in Faroese chess, Høgni Egilstoft Nielsen, took another step towards his IM tittle in the 2017 edition. Performing well above current strength and scoring his 2nd IM norm in 6 months.
